CEO’s MESSAGE
When I was thinking about branding my company so it would better reflect my belief and attitude, I came across the Latin term, Suigeneris, while reading something related to Roman history. The adjective sui generis is Latin and translates literally to: of its own kind. This struck me as accurate and representative of the way I work—and the way I would like to continue to work as my company progresses, expands, and diversifies—internationally.
Anything sui generis is its own thing; there’s nothing else like it—and that’s what I aspire to be: unique; not only one of a kind, but of my own kind. My company emblem, which depicts an eagle, a lion, and the Chinese character representing fire, are three unique portrayals of my attitude and my intent. In alchemy, the eagle symbolises the transmutation of a base metal into gold; in other words—or in metaphorical terms—the transformation of nothing into something.
The lion, the second character, represents warmth, generosity, and power. How do these characteristics relate to me and why are they important for my company? The answer isn’t complex: I would like every human being who is dealt with by my company to feel that warmth and generosity when working with my staff or I, thereby feeling empowered by our interaction, and our attitude toward them. The Chinese character, representing fire, symbolises consistency and energy, and I would like to remain steadfastly consistent for my clients—as would anyone working for my company. We will expend our energies to make things happen for our customers.
Finally, the quote across the bottom of our emblem has been attributed to Hannibal, the Carthaginian general, who is considered one of the greatest military tacticians and generals of Western antiquity.
When his Carthaginian forces were having a difficult time crossing the Alps in an attempt to attack the then Roman Empire, he uttered the famous words: “Aut inveniam viam aut faciam” (or “Aut viam inveniam aut faciam”), which is Latin for “I shall either find a way or make one”. I believe where there is a will, there is always a way, and that more often than not people give up far too soon, in fact, when they’ve all but made it to their goal. I would like to change this paradigm for those people who come into my life, and the life of my company.
I believe in pulling out all the stops, leaving no stone unturned for our clients, business partners, and customers. Confucious once said a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Take your first step with us.
